World cultures share foods

- The Mexicans have tamales, the Italians have polenta and Southerners have Grits, all these cultures have shared a similar corn based product ever since Columbus returned to Europe with the maize he found in the new world.

- The Chinese have wontons, the Jews have kreplach, the Polish have perogies,
Italians have ravioli

Pasta based dumplings became popular when Marco Polo brought pasta to Italy from China.
