My building has no free weights in the gym

My building doesn't have any free weights in the gym. I suspect it's an insurance issue.

    you must not have gone to the gym in the building. they have free-weights. when you walk in, they are to your left on the raised platform.

    There are no free weights, only dumb bells. I was referring to bar bells with the plates that you slide on for bench presses.
